Canine Assisted Therapy (C.A.T.), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in August 2009 to provide canine companionship for those in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospice organizations.C.A.T.’s specialties are recruiting and training therapy teams to work with children, patients undergoing physical, occupational, and recreational therapies; and individuals with special needs; and partnering with community organizations to customize programs to meet their needs.
C.A.T.’s mission is to enhance the quality of life and well-being of those it serves, as well as achieve specific physical, cognitive, social, or emotional goals through animal-assisted therapy and animal assisted activities. As dog-lovers as well as physical therapy professionals, we are big supporters of C.A.T. here on the SimpleCEUs team.
